Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he would use his first-ever visit to Nato in Brussels to demand more weaponry for Ukraine to repel Russia’s invasion, as he seeks to shore up support from western allies preoccupied by the Israel-Palestinian conflict.
“We need air defence, artillery and ammunition,” Zelenskyy told reporters as he arrived at a meeting of Nato defence ministers on Wednesday. “We need to push Russia out of our land.”
His administration told the Financial Times that they expected to leave Brussels with new pledges of military support from their Nato allies, who have vowed to continue backing Kyiv even as Hamas’s brutal attack on Israel and the Israeli response are likely to dominate security talks over the coming months.
