Matt Windle, the European boss of Lotus, is leaving after four months in the role following a chaotic U-turn over the British sports-car maker’s plans to end manufacturing in the UK.
Lotus, which is controlled by Chinese carmaker Geely, in June scrapped plans to cease production at its historic Hethel plant in Norfolk less than 24 hours after the Financial Times reported it was proposing to shut the factory.
The UK government responded to fears about Lotus closing its UK factory by promising support for the company to boost its competitive position.
