Kamala Harris has said allowing Joe Biden to run for re-election was the result of “recklessness”, according to an excerpt of the former vice-president’s new memoir detailing her failed bid for the White House.
Harris has kept a relatively low profile since her devastating loss at the ballot box to Donald Trump last November. But in the first excerpt of her new book, she criticises Biden, White House staffers and fellow Democrats over the party’s electoral failures.
“‘It’s Joe and Jill’s decision.’ We all said that, like a mantra, as if we’d all been hypnotised,” Harris wrote, referring to the former president and his wife, Jill Biden. “Was it grace, or was it recklessness? In retrospect, I think it was recklessness.
