A summit between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine has been cancelled, the White House confirmed on Tuesday.
The US and Russian leaders had been expected to meet in Budapest, Hungary in the coming weeks for further talks on ending the war.
The decision to call off the summit came after US secretary of state Marco Rubio and the Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov spoke by phone on Monday. They had been scheduled to meet later this week to lay the groundwork for the summit.
