Airbus delivered 793 commercial aircraft last year, narrowly beating a reduced target announced in December, but the world’s largest planemaker warned of a “continued complex and dynamic operating environment”.
The European aerospace and defence group last month cut its target from about 820 aircraft to roughly 790 after problems with its best-selling A320 family of narrow-body jets, including a quality issue with fuselage panels and an urgent software upgrade, but reaffirmed its financial goals for the year.
Aircraft deliveries are closely monitored by investors as they are an important source of cash for manufacturers as well as an indicator of the health of the industry’s supply chain.
