Ukraine offers allies combat data to train AI

Defence ministry to work with tech company Palantir to use information gathered over four years of war

Ukraine will allow allied nations to train AI models using its valuable combat data gathered during the four-year war against Russia, the country’s newly appointed defence minister has said.

“Partners want our data. We will build a system on which they can train their software products using our data,” Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s former first deputy prime minister and minister of digital transformation, told reporters in Kyiv.

Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Ukraine has accumulated an unprecedented trove of battlefield data, including huge volumes of footage from its fleet of drones.
