The Trump administration has said it is ending its aggressive immigration crackdown in Minnesota in a significant climbdown after the killing of two US citizens by federal enforcement officers sparked a widespread backlash.
“I have proposed, and President [Donald] Trump has concurred, that this surge operation conclude,” said White House border tsar Tom Homan on Thursday.
“A significant drawdown has already been under way this week and will continue through the next week,” though a “small footprint” of personnel would remain in Minnesota to “close out”, he added.
