Nasa is to shake up its Artemis lunar programme after repeated delays, scheduling more frequent missions with the aim of landing astronauts on the Moon twice in 2028.
Nasa administrator Jared Isaacman announced sweeping changes to Artemis at a news conference on Friday, citing competition from China, which aims to land a crew on the Moon in 2030, as one reason for the new policy.
“With credible competition from our greatest geopolitical adversary increasing by the day, we need to move faster, eliminate delays and achieve our objectives,” he said.
