Israel said it had killed Ali Larijani, Iran’s top security official and one of the leaders steering the Islamic republic since the assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei at the start of the war.
Israeli defence minister Israel Katz said on Tuesday that Larijani was killed in an overnight strike and pledged to continue the campaign of assassinations, in which the heads of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and armed forces have also been killed in US and Israeli attacks.
“I have instructed the IDF to continue pursuing the leadership of the . . . regime in Iran,” Katz said in a televised statement.
