David Kellermann, acting chief financial officer of the troubled US mortgage financier Freddie Mac, was found dead in the early hours of yesterday morning in his suburban Virginia home, police said.
Mr Kellermann's wife reported an apparent suicide, according to local media accounts, though police declined to comment on the cause of death, other than to say that there was no evidence of foul play.
His death adds to turmoil in the company's boardroom after Freddie Mac's government-appointed chief executive, David Moffett, quit last month because of apparent frustration with Freddie's regulator over its tight grip on company affairs. Mr Moffett's temporary replacement is John Koskinen, who had been serving as Freddie Mac's board chairman.
