In every successful monarchy, there is a power behind the throne, and for Kings of Leon – perhaps the biggest young rock band in the world today – Ken Levitan is that force.
The president and founder of Nashville, Tennessee-based Vector Management maintains a low profile but he heads one of the most quietly prosperous management companies in the music industry.
Mr Levitan has come into his office on a Sunday morning because it is the only time he has to sit down and reflect on how Vector has thrived since he abandoned his law practice in the early 1990s to set up in business to manage musicians full time. Looking after a roster of artists that includes rock-rap headline-hugger Kid Rock, arena rockers Bon Jovi, Emmylou Harris and Lyle Lovett, as well as Kings of Leon, is a full-time undertaking, but he is especially busy before a trip to London to see Kings of Leon rock the O2 Arena.
