Lenovo, the world's fourth-largest personal computer maker, yesterday sounded its first note of optimism since the onset of the financial crisis, as Beijing's stimulus package boosted its shipments and the company's restructuring measures started to yield results.
The Chinese company reported a $16m net loss for its fiscal first quarter compared with a net profit of $110.5m the previous year, on sales down 17.9 per cent at $3.46bn.
The result beat most analysts' expectations and was a significant improvement on the three months to the end of March when Lenovo reported a $264m net loss.
