Emerging markets the place to be for big pay

Investment management professionals in want of better pay packages need to be in emerging markets, either physically or in terms of investment expertise. That is the message from the latest compensation survey from Russell Reynolds Associates.

Emerging markets are becoming heated markets, says the report, “fuelling an intense war for talent which is driving excessive compensation and a lack of employee loyalty”.

This refers mostly to the situation in Asia, but the pressure is also on for asset managers in the developed world trying to recruit portfolio managers with expertise in emerging market debt and equities.
