Israeli group simulates Iran nuclear response

Israel may be able and ready to strike at Iran’s nuclear programme even after a successful nuclear test by the Iranian regime, according to a group of Israeli analysts and former government officials who took part in a simulation of the aftermath of such an event.

The claim runs counter to the widely held view that countries in possession of a nuclear weapon are largely immune to attack, because of the fear that a strike could trigger a nuclear conflict with devastating consequences.

However, according to a summary of the recent simulation – which involved former high-ranking Israeli officials, retired military officers and ex-diplomats – that assessment may not hold in the case of Israel and Iran.
