Lenovo, the world’s second-largest PC maker by shipments, has warned of a difficult first half of this year but forecast a turnround of the PC market later in the year.
“The first half will be rather tough,” said Yang Yuanqing, chief executive, pointing to weak demand in China and Europe. “However, starting from the second half, we believe Windows 8 adoption will pick up. There will be growth.”
The cautiously optimistic outlook closely followed annual results that exceeded analysts’ expectations as the group continued to grow faster than its rivals and became more profitable.
