Malaysian investigators are trying to recover data deleted from a flight simulator that was found at the home of the pilot of flight MH370, which vanished without trace en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing 11 days ago.
Unveiling the latest twist in a mystery that has sparked both enormous curiosity and many conspiracy theories across the world, Khalid Abu Bakar, Malaysia’s police chief, said yesterday that the data had been erased on February 3, just under five weeks before the ill-fated flight.
Zaharie Ahmad Shah, the captain of MH370, and his co-pilot have come under intense scrutiny since Saturday when Najib Razak, Malaysia’s prime minister, revealed that investigators believed two key communications systems on the Boeing 777 had been deliberately disabled during the flight.
