Asian central banks seen eying rate cuts

Easing measures in China and Japan have raised expectations that other Asian central banks will follow suit with growth-boosting interest rate cuts.

“With both Japan and China easing, the pressure on other central banks in the region to respond is rising,” said Bruce Kasman, chief global economist at JPMorgan.

“On balance, we think it is a mistake to view this as part of a currency war. Rather Japanese policy is working together with falling global inflation to spark a turn toward easing in regional monetary policy.”
