Sexual freedom, luxurious lifestyles and Chinese imperialism are some of the themes banned from online video programmes in a detailed list released by Chinese censors.
“Abnormal sexual lifestyles”, including homosexuality, are included among the 84 categories of topics that must not be shown, while “unhealthy” views of the family, relationships, and money are also not permitted, according to the list.
Last week’s publication of the list comes as dozens of China’s most popular entertainment channels closed during a crackdown on online content that started three weeks ago.
