North Korea reportedly cancels South Korea talks over military drill

North Korea has abruptly pulled out of high-level talks with South Korea set for Wednesday, in response to a joint military exercise being conducted by South Korea and the US, according to news agency Yonhap.

“This exercise targeting us, which is being carried out across South Korea, is a flagrant challenge to the Panmunjom Declaration and an intentional military provocation running counter to the positive political development on the Korean Peninsula,” the North’s Korean Central News Agency said, according to Yonhap, the South’s state news agency.

The KCNA statement also suggested possible trouble for the highly anticipated summit between Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s leader, and US President Donald Trump, which is set to take place June 12 in Singapore.
