Police hunt drone pilots as Gatwick airport forced to close

London’s Gatwick airport has suspended all flights following reports of drones flying over the airfield, causing disruption to tens of thousands of pre-Christmas travellers.

Superintendent Justin Burtenshaw, Gatwick airport policing commander, said there were no indications to suggest the incidents were terror related. “We believe this to be a deliberate act to disrupt the airport,” he said.

Gatwick said passengers were “strongly advised not to travel to the airport without first checking the status of their flights”.
