Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping have met in Beijing for a summit aimed at further strengthening “unprecedented” Sino-Russian ties, just days after the Chinese leader hosted US President Donald Trump.
Xi and Putin, who landed in Beijing late on Tuesday, met at Tiananmen Square on Wednesday, as part of an itinerary that will include a meeting with Chinese premier Li Qiang and a state banquet.
The two leaders were greeted by crowds of children holding flowers and a band playing Moscow Nights, a Soviet-era song, Chinese television showed.
