
Rachel Reeves is facing warnings that she could be forced to raise taxes in the autumn Budget even after she unveiled a £14bn plan to fix Britain’s strained public finances.
The UK chancellor announced savings including £4.8bn of cuts to welfare payments and £3.6bn from departmental savings in a Spring Statement on Wednesday designed to prepare the country for “a world that is changing before our eyes”.
