Boeing calls off Starliner spacecraft launch after problem with valve

Aerospace manufacturer also subject to new FAA probe over 787 Dreamliner inspections

The launch of a Boeing spacecraft has been called off after an issue was found with a component, hours after US aviation regulators opened their second investigation into the company this year.

Boeing’s CST-100 Starliner spacecraft was due to be launched on Monday evening from Cape Canaveral, Florida, to carry two astronauts to the International Space Station.

But the United Launch Alliance, a joint venture between Boeing and Lockheed Martin, stopped the launch due to a problem with an oxygen relief valve on part of the rocket.
