US stocks have had their best week in a year, buoyed this week by a frenzied rally sparked by Donald Trump’s sweeping election victory.
The S&P 500 closed 0.4 per cent higher in New York for a gain of 4.7 per cent over the five days — its best performance since early November 2023.
On Friday the broad-based bellwether also pushed above 6,000 for the first time, peaking at 6,012.45.
