Donald Trump has raised the prospect of a deal that could help Britain avoid tariffs

Negotiators from the UK’s Department for Business and Trade will head to Washington DC next week to begin talks on a new US-UK trade pact following Sir Keir Starmer’s visit to the White House on Thursday.

US President Donald Trump raised the prospect of “a real trade deal” that could lead to the UK avoiding the threat of tariffs, while Starmer was more cautious, referring to “a new economic deal with advanced technology at its core”.
