Donald Trump has told Sir Keir Starmer he should “call out the military” to stop illegal migrants arriving in Britain, as the US president ended a state visit with a warning that the problem could destroy the country.
Speaking at a press conference at Chequers, the prime minister’s country retreat, Trump said he had taken tough action to stop illegal migration across the US southern border and suggested Starmer should follow suit.
“I told the prime minister I would stop it,” he said. “It doesn’t matter if you call out the military or what means you use. It destroys countries from within.”
