Children suffered a greater risk of rare heart problems from Covid-19 infection than from vaccine first doses during the pandemic, according to a new study.
Covid infection led to 2.24 extra cases of the inflammatory conditions myocarditis or pericarditis per 100,000 under-18s in the six months after diagnosis, researchers estimated.
That compared with 0.85 additional cases for children during the six months after receiving initial shots of the BioNTech/Pfizer Covid vaccine.
