I recently returned to my hometown of Tainan in southern Taiwan twice in a single week for reporting trips. Both visits took me to Tainan Science Park.
One visit was to Taiwan’s second-largest contract chipmaker, United Microelectronics Corp, at its most important R&D and manufacturing campus — a highly secretive complex normally closed to the public.
