US President Donald Trump has said that he will meet Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado in Washington next week, marking a more conciliatory tone towards the Nobel laureate he had earlier dismissed.
The president described Machado, who received the Nobel Peace Prize last month, as a “very nice person” and said he was prepared for a meeting.
“I understand that she’s coming in next week sometime, and I looking forward to saying hello to her,” Trump told Fox News on Thursday night.
