Syria’s government announced a ceasefire with Kurdish authorities on Sunday, in effect dismantling more than a decade of self-rule by Kurds over swaths of northern Syria.
Hours after Damascus announced the deal, SDF leader Mazloum Abdi confirmed his group had accepted the agreement “to stop the bloodshed”.
“We will explain the terms of the agreement to our people in the coming days,” he said.
