Sir Keir Starmer has said he does not think Donald Trump would use military force to seize Greenland as he warned that Britain would incur “huge damage” from a trade war with the US.
Although the UK prime minister issued his strongest criticisms of the US president to date at an emergency Downing Street press conference on Monday, Starmer’s allies said he wants to allow time for tempers over Greenland to cool.
His allies added it was currently “unlikely” that Starmer will attend the World Economic Forum in Davos, in spite of Trump’s presence. The meeting is likely to be dominated by transatlantic tensions.
