The Washington Post has slashed as much as a third of its staff in the most drastic overhaul of the historic newspaper since it was acquired by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos more than a decade ago.
The newspaper, which is run by chief executive Will Lewis, is expected to cut hundreds of jobs across nearly all editorial departments.
Executive editor Matt Murray announced the plans in a Zoom meeting with staff on Wednesday. Reporters were then emailed about their futures, prompting emotional outcry on social media by those affected.
