Booking.com has suspended the accounts of several luxury European hotels, including two Hiltons, and cancelled hundreds of reservations after the Financial Times revealed them to be owned by an Iranian banker under UK sanctions.
The two Hilton Hotels in Frankfurt and the Steigenberger golf and spa resort in Camp de Mar, Mallorca, have been removed from the Booking.com website after the FT reported last month that they were owned by Ali Ansari.
On top of the suspension of the accounts, hundreds of bookings that were made via the site to hotels owned by Ansari have also been cancelled, according to people familiar with the matter.
