An Israeli bar on dozens of international humanitarian groups from working in Gaza and the occupied West Bank will lead to “immediate” effects on food, shelter and clearance of explosive material, the groups warned as they sought to postpone the ban.
The organisations, which include Oxfam and the Norwegian Refugee Council, said on Tuesday they had petitioned Israel’s high court to suspend government measures requiring them to cease operations by the end of February.
They called on the court to take urgent action before “irreparable harm is done to civilians who rely on their assistance”.
