“Could there be a better time than now to raise money?” ponders Sven Kruck, co-chief executive of Germany’s Quantum Systems. The Bavarian drone maker has not supplied either side in the deepening Middle East conflict, sparked when the US and Israel attacked Iran barely a week ago.
But Kruck, whose company is a leading supplier of drones to Ukraine in its continuing efforts to repel Russia’s invasion, knows that if one sector is immune from investor nerves about growing geopolitical rupture in the world, it is the defence industry.
Last month, Quantum hosted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German defence minister Boris Pistorius at its headquarters near Munich, where a new joint venture was sealed between the German company and Ukraine’s Frontline Robotics.
