JD Vance is to embark on a fundraising tour this month, swinging through Texas and Tennessee to raise money for the Republican Party and burnish his own brand ahead of critical midterm elections this November.
The US vice-president will headline fundraisers in Austin, Dallas and Nashville on March 23, 24 and 30 for the Republican National Committee, according to invitations obtained by the FT. Supporters have been asked to pay $250,000 to co-host each event or spend $100,000 to attend.
The fundraising tour comes as Republicans grow increasingly concerned about their prospects in the midterm elections, as concerns about the cost of living and the war in Iran weigh on President Donald Trump’s approval ratings.
