Iran claims ‘strict control’ of Strait of Hormuz and says it will not be fully reopened

Donald Trump warns Tehran not to ‘blackmail’ Washington

The Strait of Hormuz will not fully reopen and remains under Tehran’s “strict control”, said Iran, after Donald Trump said the US would maintain its blockade on Iranian ports.

The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command Headquarters, Iran’s top military leadership, said on Saturday that Washington had a “history of repeatedly failing to meet commitments” and had “continued its maritime piracy under the so-called blockade”.

“As a result, control of the Strait of Hormuz has reverted to its previous state, and the strait is now under the full management and strict control of the armed forces,” it said.
