Indonesia’s government said the country’s long-serving central bank governor had resigned, adding to uncertainty over economic policymaking in south-east Asia’s largest economy.
Perry Warjiyo, was stepping down for personal reasons, state secretary Prasetyo Hadi said on Monday. Deputy governor Destry Damayanti had been appointed as acting Bank Indonesia governor, said Prasetyo, who serves in the cabinet of President Prabowo Subianto.
Warjiyo had led the central bank since 2018 and was in his second term.
