AI stock sell-off deepens as investors dump chipmakers

South Korea’s tech-heavy Kospi leads declines in Asia

A rout in global chipmakers deepened on Tuesday, as fears over the durability of the AI boom intensified ahead of results from some of Silicon Valley’s biggest companies this week.

Shares in SK Hynix fell 14.7 per cent, while its larger rival, Samsung Electronics, dropped 13.4 per cent. The two companies have tumbled 42 per cent and 34 per cent, respectively, in July so far.
