US Army secretary Dan Driscoll has resigned from his position following a long period of tensions with defence secretary Pete Hegseth.
Driscoll’s resignation, coupled with Hegseth’s purge of top military brass, leaves a leadership vacuum in the army, which is the largest branch of the US armed forces.
The outgoing army secretary has tendered his resignation to the White House but his exact departure date was not immediately clear.
