Rishi Sunak, the UK chancellor, has bowed to pressure and announced a £15bn package of measures to help households struggling with energy bills, funded by a windfall tax on oil and gas producers.

What new help has been announced this week?
All UK households with an electricity meter will receive a one-off grant of £400, which will be automatically applied to bills from October and does not need to be repaid.
