Dollar strength helps Burberry shrug off impact of China lockdowns

Same-store sales across British luxury goods group inched up 1% in first quarter

Burberry said lockdowns in mainland China resulted in a 35 per cent fall in same-store sales there in the first quarter, but a stronger dollar will provide a bigger boost to full-year sales.

Same-store sales across the British luxury goods group inched up 1 per cent in the period, better than the 2 per cent decline that analysts had predicted.

Without the impact of China, sales would have been 16 per cent higher.
