Apple unveiled two new versions of the iPhone on Wednesday featuring emergency satellite communication and improved cameras, as well as two revamped Pro models, as the world’s largest company looks to extend its foothold in the high-end smartphone market.
The new iPhone Pro models, which use the company’s new A16 bionic chip and 48 megapixel camera, include an “always-on display” feature that keeps the screen visible at a dimmed resolution with minimal battery usage.
The Pro models also take the much-maligned iPhone “notch” — an area at the top of the display housing cameras and FaceID sensors — and turn it into an interactive messaging tool that will expand and retract depending on its use.
