Louis Vuitton has appointed the artist Pharrell Williams to take over menswear design following the death of Virgil Abloh.
The luxury giant, the flagship brand of Bernard Arnault’s LVMH group, has been on a growth streak emerging from the pandemic, and is looking to consolidate its position at the top of the market.
The appointment of multiple Grammy winner Williams at the helm of menswear design is the first major move by Pietro Beccari, Louis Vuitton’s recently appointed chief executive, who previously led Dior. Williams will present his first collection in Paris in June.
