France and China on Wednesday vowed to patch up their diplomatic differences and resume “high level contacts”, even as President Nicolas Sarkozy accused Beijing of blocking a deal on financial regulation at the G20 summit.
Mr Sarkozy is expected to meet his Chinese counterpart President Hu Jintao in the margins of the summit in London on Thursday, Luc Chatel, the French government spokesman said.
The meeting between the two leaders appears to have been brokered in return for an unequivocal statement by France that it will not interfere in Chinese internal affairs and that it will not support independence for Tibet “in any form”.
