AT LEAST THREE TO BID FOR GM EUROPE

At least three bidders will make formal offers for a stake in General Motors' European operations today, and will be asked to come up with about €650m ($886m).

RHJ International, the Brussels-based listed car parts holding company, emerged yesterday alongside Italy's Fiat and Canada's Magna as serious contenders for GM's Opel-Vauxhall divisions.

RHJ's chances were boosted yesterday when it was endorsed by Klaus Franz, the head of Opel's powerful works council in an interview with the FT.
