East Asia growth to double next year, says ADB

East Asia, excluding Japan, is on track to double its economic growth rate next year from 2009 levels, the Asian Development Bank said yesterday.

The bank forecast a 3 per cent expansion in the regional economy this year and 6 per cent in 2010.

“This [year] will be the worst year since the [1997-8] Asian financial crisis, but I see a V-shaped recovery. We are bottoming out.
