Asian stock markets extended their run of gains to an eighth session yesterday as sentiment remained buoyed by optimism about the global economy.
Tokyo moved higher for a seventh successive day as a weaker yen aided exporters, although the market lost steam in late afternoon.
The Nikkei 225 ended the day 0.7 per cent higher at 9,792.94 points, while the broader Topix added 0.2 per cent to 908.69 points.
