Hedge fund managers and their investors face a squeeze on profits and returns as the structure of the industry changes, according to a survey by Ernst & Young.
The hedge funds surveyed said they were providing greater transparency and accountability in response to investor demand, while management fees were also coming under pressure.
The changes include hiring external fund administrators, particularly in the US where this has not been the norm, and increasing the frequency and depth of reporting to clients.
