Schive Chi, the chairman of the Taiwan Stock Exchange, is pinning his hopes on China.
He expects the exchange to be buoyed with a wave of new listings by Taiwan-owned businesses in the mainland and with investments by mainland institutional investors next year.
His confidence in China's growth reflects the view of many businesses in Taiwan that have been encouraged by closer economic ties between the island and the mainland since the new Kuomintang government came into power.
